One of the biggest goals that African leaders have struggled to achieve, despite the efforts of figures such as Kwame Nkrumah, Muammar Gaddafi, Nelson Mandela, Sékou Touré, Paul Kagame, and many others, is African unity. A good place to start would be the adoption of one common currency for all 54+ countries on the African continent. Imagine an Africa where trade flows more freely across borders, economic cooperation is stronger, and African nations are less dependent on external financial systems.
Political independence is important, but economic integration is equally essential. If Africa truly wants to strengthen its position on the global stage, it must move beyond fragmented economies and work toward a shared economic future.
One continent. One common currency. A shared vision for prosperity. That would be a meaningful step toward a more united Africa.
