The winner of the fifth season of the Stars of the Future singing competition, Emmanuel Yawson has released his first professional single, ‘My Time’ barely two months after winning the competition. The single which he wrote for the finale of the reality TV series is already enjoying some rotations on radio nationwide.

‘My Time’ is a motivational song with the message of hope, inspiration and assurance for all irrespective of their age, sex or race. According to Emmanuel, “the inspiration for writing the song came from my personal experiences with the Stars of the Future competition. After two failed attempts to be part of the series, I finally made it through to the competition and now I have grown from singing in my bedroom, in school and in church to be the Star of the Future 2011.”

“This honor is an achievement that resulted from a lot of personal sacrifices and dedication although the fact that it is My Time helped. The song is my way of motivating everyone to keep pushing very hard for their dreams rather than giving up. There is time for everything and everyone under the sun once they are committed enough to a dream,’’ he adds.

‘My Time’ which was Emmanuel’s winning song at the finals of the SOF competition was produced by Richie of Lynx Entertainment. Emmanuel is a 23 year old soulful singer born to Captain Mark Yawson and Charlotte Yawson. Currently a Business Management student of the Mataheko branch of the Central University College, Emmanuel can best be described as a natural who sings from the soul.

According to Emmanuel, music has always been a big part of him and he is certain that ‘My Time’ will set the tone for a successful career in the mainstream music industry in Ghana. “I love singing and it has always been my dream to become one of Ghana’s greatest musicians. Winning the Stars of the Future competition is the best thing that ever happened to me if the successes of Stars like Irene, Bertha Adina and Jane are anything to go by.
