After bad deals and failed promotions, Papi and Killy are finally getting the look they deserve. The success of their new album, ?Your Love? is largely fueled by the lead single from the set, "African Girls" featuring Diojo, which was produced by Appietus.
5 5, new entrants to the Ghanaian music scene who waste no time delivering smooth lyrics are destined to switch the game.
5 5?s rhymes stand out well to the extent that they have made it possible for even ages as low as 2 years to sing along.
The Adabraka residents have always thought their debut album would be the charm and now they are banking on their single, ?African Girls? to spark up the album.
After producing the 2006 smash "For better for worse,? featuring Batman Samini, Appietus returns to bless the duo with the official single African Girls".
Featuring sure-fire hits, all-star collaborations with Castro, K. K. Fosu, Voltage, Shee, Diojo, Samini and Ogabi not forgetting their too-true lyrics, the group?s release illustrates why 5 5 are credited with jumpstarting a whole new rapping style.
After listening to their album and getting to know 5 5 and where they?re from, the album title becomes a no-brainer. Currently the cassettes are out which is being distributed by Big Ben.
Recently Ghana Music.com spoke with Bulldog, their manager who explained that he took a different approach as far as production is concerned. ?My boys' album has roots, hiphop, francophone, jazz, dancehall and more genres on the album just to cross our neighbour doors, Nigeria and far?.
The pair chose the name "5 5" which mean 2 sides to a story. Their manager adds that, it was initially 50 50, so a little bit of this and a little bit of that. The two were pals in the hood, Adabraka where Papi by then was a good rapper so Killy wanted to feature him on a song. Papi thought it wise and told Bulldog, their current manager and they later joined forces.
?Now our ?African Girl? is rated 'A' at MTV Base and we are so grateful to our fans that?s why we titled our album, ?Your Love? and hey, we want 5 5 to be the best group in Ghana shining in the world?. "African Girls" is currently topping the charts at one of the South African music charts.
Surprisingly 5 5 and their Bulldog wrote down the words to their hit single, ?African Girls?. ?I contributed mostly to their lyrics and arrangements, fortunately for me, I saw untapped potentials in them?, Bulldog said.
They have rocked shows like Miss Maliaka 2006, a show at Bojo Beach, Hackman Owusu Agyeman's daughter?s birthday party and more major ones.
Their well laid out video clip from OM Studios which had beautiful African girls, was a well thought of promotional strategy by Bulldog to boost the image of the boys. If you haven't seen it yet then do so now 'cos' you are missing something and now, fans are about to witness big hits under Bull Haus Entertainment.
5 5 is certain they?re delivering the hits out them on the top and know that the sky is their limit. For more information on 5 5 please call +233 27 7493897 for business deals with them.
