Once again Ghanaians have been blessed with the arrival of a new highlife album, ?Moni Be Moko?. Though it is the maiden album of a new artiste, Adolf Tagoe, two of its tracks have already established themselves in the hearts of most music lovers.
?Mbie Nye?, one of the two is already enjoying a lot of air play. Beautifully sang in the Kpanlogo style, it cautions all rivals and in-laws to stay of his marital affairs. ?Mbie Nye? is a song that is bound to leave you dancing.
The other track ?Nyonko Boni? which has a very interesting story-line when showed on TV tells the story of an ungrateful friend who was all over him when he had money but refused to offer him help when he needed one. It is also done in the Kpanlogo style.
There is an old saying that an old firewood burns brightier than a new one. This is exactly what Adolf Tagoe sings out in ?Mi Sumo Bo?. He sensually reminisces over the good times he once had with an older lover and further asks for forgiveness and a possible come back. One unique feature about Adolf Tagoe?s love songs is how he passionately sings.
Two of such passionately sang love songs are ?Mido No? and ?Don?t Give Up On Me?. While asking for what to do and how best to satisfy the love of his life in ?Mido No?, Adolf Tagoe is continuously heard declaring his love for a lover. ?Don?t Give Up On Me?, on the other hand is the only song in English on the album. It is quite touching to hear Adolf Tagoe vehemently denying the rumour being spread about him to his lover by his enemies on this track.
Speaking to Graphic Showbiz, Adolf Tagoe disclosed that he gets inspired by the ever hanging phases of this world in writing his music.
It therefore comes as no surprise when he sorrowfully sings about death in ?Adinkra? which is a soothingly cool song that makes one ponder over how sad it will be to bid farewell to loved ones when responding to the call of death.
Other interesting songs on the album are ?Ebusua Bone?, ?Asuodin? and ?Moni Be Moko? which is the title track of the album. ?Moni Be Moko? is an inspirational song that seeks to comfort the needy and the lonely. It further provides the assurance that the good Lord will provide them with all their needs.
Adolf Tagoe derived his musical experience in Denmark where he used to play with Afro Moses? Ogya Music Band. And also back in the United States, where he did the mastering of his maiden album, he is well known for his performances in Calabash and Salsa Hour Night clubs both in New Jersey.
Though a cable engineer by profession, he sings because it is a God given talent. Adolf started singing when he was only a young boy and hopes to continue singing for as long as he feels like it.
