Kumasi ( Greater Accra Region) 12 Oct. 1998 T.I Ahmadiyya Secondary School (AMASS) branch of the Ghana Muslim Students Association (GMSA) football team beat their Ashanti Regional Secretariat of GMSA side 3-1 on penalties to emerge champions of the anniversary football gala played at the Kumasi Technical Institute park in Kumasi yesterday.
Scores at the end of regulation time were 2-2.
Before reaching the finals, AMASS beat Prempeh College branch of the association 2-1 while the Regional Secretariat side eliminated Kumasi High School branch 3-1.
The two finalists received a trophy each donated by the secretariat while all the participating teams took away products of Nestle (Ghana) Limited, organisers and sponsors of the competition.
The gala formed part of the activities marking the Association's week-long annual celebrations. The theme of the celebrations is "The role of Muslim youth in sustainable development".
Presenting the trophies and the items to the teams, Mr Umar Farouk, National President of the GMSA appealed to the company to continue to support the association especially in its educational programmes. GRi
