The Weekend Statesman says the string of demonstrations purported to be spontaneous outburst of protests by women against the "Free Press" story on Nana Konadu, is nothing more than marches organised on the basis of fraud and deceit. The paper says the Free Press story headlined: "No tears for Konadu, some gaudily dressed ladies pass for prostitutes:, has seen demonstrations by the 31st December Women's Movement (DWM) in virtually all the regional capitals. It says the National Council on Women and Development (NCWD) which has virtually become an appendage of the DWM, has gone to the extent of declaring war on the Editor of the Free Press, Mr Ato Sam.
