The long-fought battle of Collins Nyantakyi and his songstress wife, Mrs. Ophelia Nyantakyi, for a daughter has come to an end. The couple was finally granted their heart’s desire a month ago.

Although the prolific gospel songwriter/singer shed tears on hearing of the news of the birth, he explained that it was tears of joy.

“In fact I shed of tears, but it was tears of joy. You know my heart was overwhelmed by joy when the nurses who delivered my wife of the baby told me that there was good news for me. I was anxious till they led me into the ward where Ophelia was resting after the delivery. Ophelia told

me that finally God has answered our prayers by giving us a bouncing baby girl”, said a visibly happy Collins.

The gospel duo, Mr. & Mrs. Nyantakyi, had two strong boys, but the absence of a daughter among their children made them restless with life till last month when God answered their prayers and now they are the happiest couple in town.

The newly born baby girl has been named Christabel Yaa Nhyira Nyantakyi during a colourful naming ceremony recently held in the couple’s Dansoman residence which was chaired by Rev. Yaw Owusu Ansah of Adom FM.

Others who were present to celebrate with the couple are members of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), United Gospel Musicians Association (UGMA), family members and fans of the couple.
