Accra (Greater Accra) 29 March '99 Jeff Abeasi scored 38 points to win this year's Achimota Golf Club charity competition played at Achimota golf course in Accra at the weekend. He was followed by S.D. Odame, who scored 35 points to win on countback against F.A. Amekudzi while Leo Acquah beat Richard Schram also on countback after they had scored 34 points apiece. Comfort Amuzu won the Ladies event with 38 points, Janet Piper placed second when she beat Isabella Brook on countback after scoring 36 points each. The one-day stableford competition, open to members of the club only, attracted over 100 golfers. Mr E.Y.G. Kumordzie, newly elected captain of the Club, thanked members for their patronage and called for their support to enable him to steer the affairs of the club during his two-year term.. Nana Wereko Ampem the second, Immediate past president of the club, who presented prizes to the winners, on behalf of the Senior Members of the Club, donated an amount of 500,000 to the Club.
