Unlike most musicians who begin their music career in their infancy, Rebecca Asiedu-Gyebi realised the talent to sing rather late - only after 40 years.

Rebecca, who prefers to be called Becky told Showbiz she enjoyed songs of many musicians but never thought of being a musician herself. “I attribute everything to God. I never thought of coming out with an album eight years ago when I started leading morning devotions, singing praises and worship songs at church,” she said.

According to her, since God called her and knew the purpose of His calling, He made the recording of her first album Medeme Nye in 2009 with tracks like You Are Most Worthy, Wo Dwuma, Obatanpa and Yebe Bubu, so simple for me her.

Following the success of her previous album Medeme Nye in 2009, Becky is out with her newest single Wo Ye O'nyame.

Becky, whose new single will be launched on September 24, said it is her belief God will use her music to change many lives.

Asked if she could stand the test of time looking at the crop of Gospel musicians on the market, Becky said “God in His ways would make her song a hit in no time. My song might not be the best but I know the lyrics in it are very strong and in no time I know for a fact, I would go places with it.”

According to Rebecca, who is a secretary by profession, she draws inspiration from singer Amy Newman. “Not all can combine the work of God with family demands but God has made it so easy for her. Besides the fact that I admire her, she is also my mentor.”
