Big Willie visits Ghana

One of Ghana’s leading music producers and event organizer William Mpiani, known in music circles as Big Willie arrived home on Monday morning from the United States of America.

He was met at the Kotoka International Airport by a group of Ghanaian music stars including Obour, representatives of Family Tree Entertainment and a section of the media. Big Willie who is on a short visit to Ghana would hold meetings with selected music stars as well as some of the stakeholders in the music industry.



In the US, Big Willie is behind the promotion of Ghanaian music and as well organizes events to promote Ghanaian music in the States.



He is also one of the pillars behind the recent world tour by Obour and A.B. Crentsil.



In an interview on arrival, Big Willie, who owns an event management firm, David and Big Willie Promotions in Maryland, USA, noted that Ghanaian music was now being recognized and music fans in the States appreciate what Ghanaian musicians are doing.



Big Willie, who is in the country in connection with his impending musical event in USA, hopes to extend invitation to musicians such as Ofori Amponsah, Daasebre Gyemena, Batman Samini and Obour to perform at the event alongside some international music stars.

According to him, Ghanaian musicians were very talented and he was ever ready to assist any Ghanaian musician who needed his support.



He said one of his reasons for visiting his motherland was to identify and develop new talents in the music industry.



He hinted that his outfit intends to sign on more musicians from Ghana and other parts of Africa who would go through a series of training to enable them compete with their colleagues on the international music market.



Outlining the plans of his oufit, Big Willie said the vision of his company was to develop talents and encourage Ghanaian musicians to be creative in their works as well as ensure that African music is not left behind in the world.
