FayaHundreds of fans of 22-year-old Liberian, Timothy Fayah Bonah a.k.a Faya, of Mentor-III fame, at the weekend hosted a victory party to welcome home their hero following his landmark performance at the just-ended TV3 reality show.

The welcome party, held at the Golden Gate Hotel in Buduburam, had more than 30 male and female multi-talented artistes performing. Among them was Jerry-B of West African Idol fame, who is also a Liberian living in Ghana.

With the appearance of Lisa, Paul, Erico, Nadjat, KG, Dela and a host of others, the show was set agog with non-stop performances, which kept the Liberian community of over 35,000 inhabitants in a festive mood throughout Sunday night until the dawn of Monday, August 13.

According to Faya’s Manager, Mr. Boye Cooper, the party was aimed at generating funds to support Faya’s plan for under-privileged children in Buduburam and elsewhere in the Greater Accra Region.

According to Mr. Cooper, the show was to create exposure for Liberian artistes in the country and as well promote the spirit of Pan-Africanism.

Faya, who lives with two of his brothers in Ghana, reiterated his resolve to help street children.

“I have been a child who always struggled on my own to live, so it has been my dream to assist these children because it is painful to see them laboring in Accra, while some are abandoned in Buduburam, not in school.”

Faya lost his father in the Liberian civil war and lost his mother in 2005. His biggest dream has been to become an international music star, to help his fellow countrymen and country in the music industry.

The Liberian hero stated he was now on his way to stardom in the music world, as Mentor had done him a lot of good, in terms of confidence building, live band performance and the ability to learn new songs within a very short time.

“Music has been and will be my career. That is what I drink, eat, sleep and dream. Without music, I might not have love for anything as I would have for other things.”

He disclosed that he and his manager were thinking of having a collaborative album with Erico, Dela and KG of Mentor-III, and Andy and Prince of Mentor-I within a short time.

The entire Mentor-III batch expressed appreciation to Liberians for the immense support they gave their brother during his stay in the Mentor house. They were all elated at the rousing welcome given them on their arrival at Buduburam.

The attention of Dela was drawn to a Liberian dance group, JP - The Royal Force, whose performances had won them a contract to back Dela in her video recording for her maiden album.
