Bola RayThe introduction of hiplife in the 1990s has undoubtedly contributed in no small way to the growth and development of the Ghanaian music industry.

Since its inception by the God-father of hiplife and Oseikrom President, Reggie Rockstone, this genre of music has over the years become the toast of both the old and new generation of music lovers.

It has also led to the unearthing of several hitherto unknown and mostly young artistes who have over the years taking this brand of music to another level and become stars in their own rights.

Although Reggie is touted as the originator of the hiplife, one personality whose name will always be written in gold when the history of hiplife music comes to be written is Nathaniel Kwabena Anokye Adisi a.k.a. Bola Ray of JOY 99.7 FM and TV3 Music Music fame.

Since his days at Top Radio, several years ago, Bola Ray has single-handedly worked around the clock to promote hiplife music.

Indeed, Bola Ray took it upon himself to encourage the up-coming artistes by promoting that genre of music whenever he was on air. This was at the time when some his colleague presenters described hiplife music as ugly noise and refused to have anything to do with it.

Undoubtedly, it is through the efforts of people like him who have made hiplife what it is today and brought hope as well as source of livelihood to thousands of youth across the country.

It is in recognition of immense contribution to the growth of hiplife music that Bola Ray together with Reggie were recently awarded in London during the just ended hiplife festival.

The citation accompanying the award read “In Recognition Of His Outstanding Contribution To Hiplife Music For The Past 10 Years And His Tireless Efforts And Dedication Towards The Advancement of Ghanaian Music”.
