At least, 104 choral groups drawn from 22 parishes in the Volta, Greater Accra and Ashanti regions converged at Ho for the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Episcopal see of the Ho diocese.
People from different religious background including the clergy also thronged the Saint Francis Asisi Church premises to witness the memorable occasion which was on the theme: "The Lord has done great things for us, indeed we are glad."
The toast of the seven hour programme was the Bishop Gbevivi choral group from Ho, mainly made up of the youth who sang in different dialects to the delight of the crowd.
Bishop Lodonu thanked all those who made it possible for the programme to succeed and indicated that their toil, pain and suffering would be rewarded in due course.
"This choral festival is in recognition of the immense and generous contributions that you all have been making over the past 30 years to support and assist the church through services which you have been rendering us whenever we call upon you," he said.
Bishop Lodonu urged Ghanaians to continue their sacrifices towards the growth and development of the state and the church relationship to accelerate socio-economic development of the country.
According to him, the lack of choral festivals in the Volta Region has dwindled the enthusiasm by organizations and institutions to form choral groups to perform at functions and at festivals.
He stated that in the past choral groups could be found in communities, educational institutions and churches performing at functions and festivals to whip up patriotic sentiments in the youth and the old in society.
However, in the past decade, choral festivals has been missing in the region and was restricted to gospel and ?Borborbor? music.
