Classical music meets hiplife music

Classical music is a genre that has very little patronage among Ghanaians while Hiplife is the fastest growing music genre in Ghana.

The two are completely dissimilar but world renowned music composer, Kurt Merki successfully brought the two genres together in a concert dubbed “See Rainbow over Ghana” at the Ghana National Theatre last Friday, November 30.

The historical live concert featured over 200 musicians including the Ghana Police Band, the National Symphony Orchestra, the Ghana Army Band, Tema Youth Band, The Quartet and Eliva & the African Jazz Band.

Many Hiplife and contemporary High life artistes such as Tinny, Slim Buster and Ma-Jay set the auditorium alive with their danceable tunes as well.
