Commander Messiah – the renaissance of a dancehall king

Once upon a time, he was one of the real local African dancehall kings from Nigeria who resided in Ghana for 21 years and is now based in Berlin, the capital of Germany.

Commander Messiah, as he is generally called when he is rocking the stage, is now taking the world by storm when it comes to reggae dance hall in Europe.

Commander Messiah has songs with Jamaican artistes including Chuck Fenda, Tarrus Riley, Gentleman, Jah Acoustic and the Yard Crew. The dancehall artiste has also had stints with Shasha Marley, Bibie Brew, Samini, Black Prophet and his own band Vibration Kings from Ghana.

He is currently living in Europe with his family.

Born in 1973 in Ikpe, a suburb of Lagos to a military father, Messiah Edu – his real name - lived in a barrack as a child with his parents and siblings before growing up to discover his talent thus forming the Vibration Boys with his childhood twin brethren from the same neighborhood.

Peter and Paul together with Messiah travelled in search of the musical success across Africa and in their journey met Black Prophet in Ghana and formed The Vibration Kings and the rest they say is history.

Commander Messiah is steadily becoming a household name among the Black community in Europe and has hinted of a major concert soon.
