DJ Bakayoko DJ Bakayoko needs not to introduce himself to his regular listeners on Vibe FM in the mornings from Mondays to Fridays, and Sundays since he has gained popularity of late. Sometime last year frequent listeners would agree with me that a silent DJ was heard on the airwaves after Odeefuo left for London.

Bakayoko hosts the ?Local Vibe? show which is being listened to mostly by the youth and some adults. The Local Vibe show consists of all the genres of Ghanaian music which he does his best to play. His selection is marvelous and also he has got some very funny jingles. The show has a lot of artistes trooping in for interviews about their albums, songs, upcoming albums and news about themselves almost every day.

DJ Bakayoko has gradually warmed himself into the music industry and is so good in the selection of his songs. Bakayoko discovered his talent in DJing when he walked with Odeefuo for a very long time. His dream to work at Vibe FM gave him the necessary confidence and exposure.

If you have ever listened to his morning programmes you would realise that he starts the programme by introducing gospel songs, then some highlife and more hiplife. Sometimes he plays old school tunes be it highlife, hiplife and gospel. He handles his programme quite different from other presenters on the airwaves of Accra. The difference is that he plays more music than he talks.

Ghana Music.Com asked him how he is able to dish out good Ghanaian music to attract more listeners to the station and he answered by saying ?There was a time that if I see that the Talk Show before me was very hot, I try to play hot songs to keep the listeners glued to the station.?

For now, DJ Bakayoko is now a household name among listeners of Vibe FM and Disc Jockeys at Warehouse Nite Club, the newly reigning night club in Adabraka. Apart from his DJing he is into radio and television electronics since he learnt it at EMIT.

Bakayoko laments bitterly about how some musicians use profane lyrics. ?I wish they could polish their lyrics well before putting them on the market and airwaves.?

The young 22-year old Patrick Mensah a.k.a DJ Bakayoko also thanked Odeefuo, T.A, his parents and all the Vibe FM crew for their inspirations and support. He can be reached on his cellphone number-233 24 4685684. For his last words he said ?his listeners should keep on listening to the Local Vibe show every day?.
