David (Xadzixevi) Mawutor, a popular Musician in the Volta region was on Friday night adjudged the finest Ewe Gospel Musician in the Region. His album “Xornametor” was declared the best Ewe Gospel Song in the last ten years at the maiden Ewe Gospel Music Awards in Ho. The event was organized by Kafli Events Consult to celebrate and honour musicians in the region.
It was also to bring competition into the music industry and give exposure to up and coming musicians in the region. Clad in quality Ewe Kente and beautiful sandals to match, Mawutor thrilled fans with his usual thought provoking and inspiring music.
He dedicated the award to his fans and family especially his mother and wife and said he would use the award to campaign against homosexuality.
Sensational Israel Nanevi Maweta’s latest “Edzobibi” emerged the most popular Ewe gospel song.
Other award winners were, Mr Wilson Anumah who won the Best Ewe Gospel Executive Producer, Apostles Relation Society (ARS) Church Choir-Ho which won the Best Ewe Gospel Group and Ms Edith Gemegah who won the Most Promising Ewe Gospel Artiste.
Bishop Francis Kofi Anani Lodonu, Catholic Bishop of Ho, Mr Walter Komla Blege, Immediate Past President of Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P) University College and Celestine Donkor, a Musician were given honourary awards for their efforts at promoting Ewe gospel music in and outside the country.
Pastor Abitor Makafui, a physically disabled who was recently adjudged Queen of gospel music in the Republic of Togo excited the fans with her stimulating lyrics and her exhilarating dances in a wheelchair.
