Florence Obinim eyes Best Collaboration at 2011 music awards

Ace gospel musician, Florence Obinim is optimistic that her collaboration with Princess Ifeoma from Nigeria - the first of its kind for a Ghanaian gospel musician - will yield some great results at this year’s Ghana Music Awards Festival.

The gospel singer who burst unto the gospel seen with her song Osoro Ne Me Fie (Heaven is my home) became a household name as fast as lightening and consequently swept the 2007 Ghana Music Award for Best Gospel Discovery of the Year.

Florence whose father is the Chief of Sreso in Kumasi started her singing career at a very tender age in a local Assemblies of God Church where she was a lead singer.

Some of her well known songs include Wagye Me, Oben Me, Mehia W'adom, Me Dimafo, Mahunu Bi Da, Ma Me Nyansa, Okyeso Nyame and her latest chart-topping album, God Never Fails featuring one of Nigeria’s top gospel musicians, Princess Ifeoma.

The mother of three was nominated in two categories for the 2010 Ghana Music Awards in two categories –Gospel Artiste of the Year and Gospel Song of the Year.

By dint of hard work and dedication to her calling, she has received three nominations for the 2011 Ghana Music Awards Festival.

As a result of the quality collaboration with Princess Ifeoma, her song has been nominated for Best Collaboration of the Year and many music lovers have tipped her to take home the award.

She has also been nominated for the Gospel Song of the Year and Gospel Artiste of the Year which is a strong indication of her consistency in churning out very inspirational gospel music.

According to her managers, even though there are some key contenders for the awards, Florence stands out and that Ghana8ians love her songs because they lift the souls of everyone.

This year's Ghana Music Awards ceremony which is slated for the 9th of April will be held at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre. The event will be preceded by the Ghana Music Awards Dialogue and the Ghana Music Awards Nomineess’ party in Kumasi.
