Accra, (Greater Accra) 23 Jan. '99,

Accra, (Greater Accra) 23 Jan. '99, An Accra Circuit Tribunal on Friday deferred until January 29, the sentencing of two accused persons charged with threatening to kill a journalist. The two, Daniel Kwabena Ofori, electronic technician, and Leonard Yaw Torsutsey, sound recording engineer, were found guilty and convicted by the tribunal but have been remanded in custody. A warrant was also issued for the arrest of a third person, Kunadu Frimpong, a student, who is on the run. The tribunal, chaired by Mrs Elizabeth Anderson Yeboah, head that the three accused persons gave the journalist, Mr Kwaku Adofo Addae, of People and Places (P &P) newspaper a news item to publish. The prosecution said when the story came out, the accused were not happy about the way it was written because the person they alleged had sex with some members of the Christ Apostolic Church International at Osu, was given the opportunity to deny the accusation. On February 20, last year, when Mr Adofo Addae was returning home from work, the three accused persons threatened to kill him saying "you defended a wrong cause and you were biased in your report. "We have now known where you stay and we shall finish you". The prosecution said the complainant became afraid and made a report to the police.
