Hewale The French Embassy and Alliance Fran?aise in Accra will on Friday November 26, 2004 present Hewale Sounds in a pre-departure concert at the outdoor theatre located within the premises of the Alliance Fran?aise.

The group is scheduled to expose its brand of traditional and contemporary African music at the "Centre de Culturel Fran?ais" in the Beninois capital, Cotonou on Wednesday December 1, 2004.

Led by the atenteben dynamo, Dela Botri, Hewale Sounds has over the years been involved in a quest to promote the authenticity of African music through all kinds of research and improvisations with indigenous African instruments.

The group has also been performing a number of Ghanaian folk/traditional music tunes and their contemporary extensions during numerous concerts in hotels, festivals and foreign cultural houses in Accra and other parts of Ghana.

In recent times, the group has begun explorations into the compositions of the Malian music sensation Salif Keita and the Camerounian star Awilo Logoumba resulting in amazing re-arrangements.

Currently based at the W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre in Accra, Hewale Sounds has performed to highly enthusiastic audiences in Togo, Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire, Jordan, Norway, the United States and the Republic of South Africa.

The group, which has two albums to its credit, has also held a number of workshops for music students and teachers from the United States, Europe and South Africa.

Centre Culturel Fran?ais, Cotonou, the Alliance Fran?aise and the French Embassy in Accra are sponsoring the trip to Cotonou.
