Information reaching News-One indicates that Socrates Sarfo’s sensational ‘Hot Fork’ movie has sold some 80,000 copies despite the huge bash and negative publicity it has suffered during the last eight months.
An attempt by News-One to cross-check which movies are doing well on the market revealed that Socrates and his bankers must be a group of happy people. “It is not that I cannot do a high budget movie. I have tried that a couple of times but the idea behind ‘Hot Fork’ is to give the market what buyers want and I know it would sell,” Socrates Safo told News-One barely a month ago.
Checks at Damfo B.A. Productions, a movie distribution company, revealed that contrary to speculations that ‘Hot Fork’ was not doing well on the market, the movie has sold an estimated 80,000. Further checks revealed that local Twi movie, ‘Ama Ghana’, which got a lot of nominations at the last Ghana Movie Awards is selling like pure water and has sold a record of 250,000 copies.
‘Ama Ghana’ is being trailed by ‘Heart of Men’ and ‘2016’, which have each sold some 200,000 copies so far while Ghana’s Best Director, Shirley Frimpong Manso’s ‘Perfect Picture’, News-One sources said, has also sold over 150,000.
