The music industry in Ghana has a low record of females who do a blend of R&B, Hiplife and Highlife. We can boast of Becca who is more of an R&B singer and Mzbel who does mostly Hiplife. It’s hard to find a female doing all three, namely Hiplife, Highlife and R&B.

There is a new voice about to be launched on the radio, a voice of rare talent and perhaps a voice that will change the music scene in Ghana. She is not only filled with a sweet voice but she does what she wants to do and something she says comes to her naturally and that is music.

Miss Vida Darko is her name and currently she has ventured into both music and acting. Her artistic name is Veeda and has been singing since she was a child. She said her father loved music and saw the passion in her so she was made to take singing and acting classes to develop her talent.

She has been a backing vocalist for seven years now to many top musicians that she can’t even remember their names.

She is about to launch her maiden album titled “Sunshine” which has a blend of R&B, Hiplife and Highlife and she has some of her songs in Twi and English. The hit single “Biribi Yaaye Mi” is now being played on radio as well as the video being shown on TV.

The idea about beauty pageants was not too pleasant for her during her childish days therefore when this pretty girl was tagged as a “Miss Ghana” she hated the whole idea. Surprisingly, in 2002 as fate would have it she won Miss Ghana USA and is now convinced that beauty pageants are not as bad as she thought.

She has so far featured in Vashti Jones movie “Chosen Paths” and also in two Nigerian movies which are all about to be released.

Veeda says any bad idea associated with beauty pageants or anything that has to do with showcasing herself has been discarded. She is now ready to take world by storm, accept any challenge thrown at her and also grab any opportunity that comes her way by utilizing it to her utmost benefit.

“I believe this is what the music industry has been lacking for some time now and it seems the antidote has been found and I am here to stay”, she said “I will not disappear after coming out with my maiden album but will learn from the mistakes and improve myself in the next album”, she added.

She believes she can rub shoulders with already existing musicians and hopefully even do better. I guess we should all be listening to the radio and stay glued to our TV sets so we can see and hear the good stuff she is made of. She has a melodies voice that can calm your nerves and even put a baby to sleep.

Once again her name is Veeda an R&B, Hiplife and Highlife singer who is here to warm your hearts with good music.
