I like to collaborate but I’m selective about them – Tic

Ghanaian hiplife musician and an earlier proponent of the genre Nana Kwaku Okyere Duah now referred to as Tic has explained his choice of artists for collaborations.

The musician who burst unto the music scene in the late 90’s after featuring on Azigiza’s song “Woye Bia” in an interview with NY DJ on RYSENSHYNE on Y102.5FM revealed his collaborations have always been legendary hence the need to be selective on which artist he collaborates with.

“Music is a feeling…If you know from my records, I like to collaborate. It’s something I like to do but I will always like to collaborate to have something extra to my music. I just don’t collaborate. Anytime I feel I need to do a collaboration, I’m very particular about who I collaborate with and the effect it’s going to have on the music,” he said.

Tic, who has had major hits with collaborations stated there was the need to keep the landmark achievement by maintaining standards with future collaborations.

“From day 1, I did collaborations with Azigiza, Slim Busterr, Freddy Meiway, General Marcus, Tony Tetuila, Sway, Obrafour and all these are songs many looked out for so I don’t want to destroy that landmark achievement. For example, I did one with Obrafour on my album Philomena that is historical and classic and till today, that song is always worrying me. I did songs with the late Daasebre Gyamena

Tic was speaking in reference to his new single Pene Mame which features Lynx Entertainment signed artist KiDi.

Plying the showbiz business for over a decade under the moniker Tic Tac, the Philomena hitmaker believes it is time to rebrand hence the change to Tic.

“Tic Tac is a very solid brand but moving forward, I felt the need to catch up with new people. For the future, it makes sense to be referred to as Tic. It’s interesting how a large number of people refer to me as Tic so I doubt the name change will really be a problem.”

Pene Mame is the first single since the rebranding process.
