Ghanaian hiplife artiste, Dorcas Opoku Darkwah, known in showbiz circles as Abrewanana, says she will soon return to change the face of the music industry in the country.

“I ‘m now in the studio working with one of the good sound engineers in the country and hopefully, early next year, I will bounce back in grand style”.

“Anytime my fans see me in town, they ask when I’m releasing my next album, and I tell them soon, because I want to take my time and give them something bigger and better”, she told The Mirror in an interview.

Abrewanana, whose last album, ‘Maba’, featuring Batman Samini, made significant strides on the airwaves, said this time around, she will feature the hottest contemporary highlife star in the country and that will be the shocker, but was quick to add that she was yet to talk to that artiste.

She said after her participation in the Idol West Africa show in Nigeria, she was invited to some shows in the UK and the US and that made her “missing in the system”.

She said Idol West Africa had promoted her image and would like to maintain a standard in the music industry, especially as the only female who was into ‘raglife’ in the country.

She describes as frustrating the difficulties musicians go through before and after releasing their albums.

It is difficult to get a producer and even after a producer, the situation does not change.

The HND accounts holder, whose first album ‘Sagaa’, shot her to fame in 1999, has two additional albums to her credit which include ‘African Girl’, released in 2003 and ‘Maba’ in 2005.

She is, however, optimistic that situations would definitely change if governments express more interest in the music industry.
