Ghanaian music has gone through some dynamism over the past decade with many stalwarts falling along the line, but this musician, is a man with a different style and has kept his rank as one of the most talented musicians in Ghana and he is called, Kaakayire Kwame Fosu, also known as "K.K Fosu".

The legendary Ghanaian musician has established himself as one of the "master-craftmen" of Ghanaian highlife and hiplife music and has made significant strides in his illustrious music career within and beyond the boundaries of Ghana.

Regardless of the upward or downward surge in his music, K.K Fosu has served Ghanaians with great melodies for people in love, the broken hearted and has inspired people from all over the world.

Early Life

K.K Fosu started music at an early age and was part of the choir back in Secondary School.

After school, K.K Fosu started doing live band with "Soundz Unlimited" and played it for two years.

K.K Fosu was spotted by "Low Down" records and was signed by DKB productions, where he eventually released his first album "Sudwe", which was produced by ace producer, Hammer of "Last 2". He was very instrumental to K.K Fosu's progress in the hiplife circles back then.

Before that, K.K Fosu has already featured on numerous singles together with veteran hiplife icons Obrafour, Borax among many others but the "Sudwe" brought him to the limelight.

Album review

K.K Fosu over his music life span has produced five albums in total and Ghanaian music loving fans can relate to each and every track. The albums which include "Sudwe", "Anadwo Yede", "6’oclock", "Akonoba" and "Toffee".

K.K Fosu's versatility can be seen through his music as he brings forth the finest of rhymes and rhythms to his music, which has undoubtedly shaped highlife, hiplife and contemporary highlife.

K.K Fosu announced his presence on the Ghanaian music landscape with "Sudwe" album.

According to KK Fosu, the "Yapesei" track on the "Anadwo Yede" album happens to be his avourite with "Akonoba" being his favourite album.

Speaking about his upcoming sixth album dubbed "Am Back", KK Fosu believes he still got a lot to offer Ghanaians from all and sundry and assured his fans of good Ghanaian music that would thrill their soul.

The Transition

When K.K fosu emerged on the music scene in the mid 90's, where highlife was rubbing shoulders with a new genre of music dubbed hiplife as artistes incorporated RnB and hip hop grooves into their works

"I came into the music scene when highlife was on the downward surge, so I ventured into hiplife. Regardless of that, I also love doing highlife music because I saw myself as a versatile artiste,’’ KK Fosu told GNA Entertainment

K.K Fosu during this difficult transition of Ghanaian music, saw the need for giving hiplife and highlife a new face and could perhaps be touted as the poster boy of ''Contemporary Highlife'' music.

"People had a bad impression about hiplife during the late 90's , but we saw they reason of giving Ghanaian music a new face and it wasn't easy. I did my best having performed across various international platforms,'' K.K Fosu noted

The ''Trinity Music'' group surfaced which included the ‘’Kokoveli’’ and ‘’Batman’’ now known as ‘’Samini’’, and they were certainly ruthless as they ruled the airwaves with back to back hits. But the group confronted wranglings

which led to a collapse with the artiste going solo.

Apart from "Kokoveli", K.K Fosu and Samini have thrived in their respective endeavors on the music scene and are very relevant currently as they produce hits after hits.

The comeback

K.K Fosu over the past few years has not being rampant in his musical endeavours as compared to the olden days, but very relevant in the music circles releasing a number of singles which has gained massive airplay.

K.K Fosu in an interview revealed is next project with new record label World Map records who poised to propel him to greater heights in the music circles.

"With World Map Records coming on board, expects greater things from K.K Fosu, and not here to compete with anyone but am going to do my best for all Ghanaian music loving fans,'' KK Fosu said.

Conclusion

KK Fosu has certainly earned a place in the hiplife Hall of Fame and the best highlife crooners and remains one of the greatest Ghanaian artiste, that has ever surfaced considering his uniqueness and will be remembered in the annals of Ghanaian music.
