The launch of Ghana’s most innovative Record Label, “Sakora Records” comes off on Wednesday 25th February 2015, 7:30pm at Alliance Française Accra, alongside the release of the greatly anticipated debut album, A.R.T (African Relaxation Techniques) Vol 1.
Founded in 2014 by music producer and multi-instrumentalist Sewor Okudzeto, Sakora Records is Ghana’s newest and most eclectic label. The debut album by the founder, A.R.T. Vol 1 (African Relaxation Techniques) brings together some of Ghana’s finest artists including Yaa PONO, Lady Jay Wah, Kweku Mankind, in an album of eclectic sounds, fusing together Afrobeat, Neo Soul, Jazz and Afropop for one of the most original-sounding albums to come from Ghana.
Sewor’s musical journey began in London's 90’s Acid jazz scene playing lead guitar for several artists and Funk bands whilst touring the UK, Spain, France and Australia. His recent return to Ghana has culminated in an exploratory album, fusing local rhythms and flavours with his own unique style of production, playing guitar, piano, bass and synths; whilst programming and sequencing rhythms and feelings into a new brand type of Afrobeat.
According to Sewor Okudzeto, the main concept behind Sakora Records' first offering is producing music for the mind, and music for the soul. Music lovers are to expect a mix of Afrobeat, Fusion, Neo Soul and mellow grooves.
A short film of the making of the album will be screened at the launch. Additionally, Sakora Records is on the hunt for new artists with real talent and the right attitude to move into 2015.
