Seasoned Ghanaian highlife musician Alex Mensah aka Lucky Mensah, who left the shores of Ghana for the United States of America a couple of months ago to seek greener pastures, returned home last Monday to put finishing touches to his new album which is yet to be released.

Before he left for the States, Lucky Mensah, who sang on the platform for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the 2008 campaign, complained bitterly about being neglected by the NDC after he composed a campaign song for them.

Ever since Lucky Mensah stood on the campaign platform to sing for the NDC’s change for a ‘Better Ghana’ agenda, he has been shunned by majority of Ghanaians, making his music unattractive.

Reports available indicate that after the NDC won the elections, Lucky Mensah’s musical works were withdrawn from the market by dealers in Kumasi, Accra and some parts of the country who claimed he campaigned for the wrong party.

This was confirmed by his manager, Joseph Bediako, who said Lucky’s sales had grounded ever since he starred in the NDC campaign, adding that the musician had been to the castle many times but nobody was ready to talk to him and he was treated with contempt.

The highlife musician, before he left for the States, told 'Beatwaves' in an interview in April this year that anytime he visited top NDC officials, they did not even want to look at him.

He even complained bitterly about one of the ministers who was bold enough to tell him that he was not the only musician who sang for the NDC. “I spent a lot of money on the NDC campaign song but they turned their backs on me.

At least some of the bigwigs within the party should remember me,” he stated, lamenting that “I am struggling to cater for my three kids and a wife. I want to leave the country and seek greener pastures abroad.” When 'Beatwaves' contacted Lucky’s manager, Joseph Bediako confirmed that Lucky Mensah was in town and would not go public.

He was however quick to add that the artiste would soon release his new album but for now, he would not make any public statement.
