A girl band in Ghana....hmmmmm....I still can't believe it. Our industry is still growing and is budding in nature but a girl band and a good one at that...no.. I never saw it coming.
This past week my routine lead me to a newly formed girl band yet to hit the Ghanaian entertainment industry. The group Reckless Dolls is made up of three girls Fidelia Ankomah whose stage name would be Reckless Ewurama, Dharyann Bryan-Ghartey with the stage name Reckless Dharyann and Tosan Scott with the stage name Reckless T. Scott.
The group was created by ace presenter and pop rock artist Jon Germain and is currently under his managerial tutelage. Jon's reason for starting the band is noble and deserves the plaudits. “Ghana needed a girl band, that could appeal to the international world.” Jon remarked, in his own description of the girls and an answer to the question what was different about them Jon had this to say “They are exceptionally good”.
The group has two rappers and a singer. Dharyann does solely rap whiles Scott handles the vocals, Ewurama on the other hand doubles up as both a singer and a rapper as well.
I have been privileged as their official Publicist under management to hear their single track before it hits the airwaves and I can confidently say that with Reckless Dolls, Ghanaian entertainment is definitely on the map.
The group is a hip hop and R'N'B group but has their first single as an afro-pop song. All three girls had this to say “We have been doing music since we we babies and what we bring is good music and the international recognition that Ghana deserves”.
