There are some shows which transcend even concerts. Such is the case with what happened at the Warehouse Nyte Klub on Saturday May 28 as MTV Base Live with the support of the most reliable phone company Nokia showed Ghana what time it was.
At about 9:30pm, the show was set to kick off and Nadia Bitar (MC for the night) introduced VIP onto the stage. VIP accompanied by their entourage punished the ecstatic crowd with their dynamism on stage and lyrical dexterity as they sang songs from their repertoire. Mad Fish also managed to add his name to the list of crowd movers as he sang Yahooya (Wo Ne Me Lady).
When Tic Tac mounted on stage, the fans go berserk. He thrilled the crowd with his ‘Kwani Kwani’ track and if you want to know what was happening on the dance floor, wow it was all dancing.
Skwatta Kamp from South Africa also gave a good account of themselves when they dropped onstage and performed marvellous tracks from their repertoire. The only problem was that as they were performing, the lights went off but you know, there has to be one or two hitches here and there to make a show lively. The show still continued.
Obour, (the Ghana Music Awards award dominator) who just returned from Canada a few days ago captivated the crowd with his stunning and magnificent lyrics dressed in all red. You should have been there to see how the dance floor was filled to capacity when he started singing ‘Shyne Ur Eye’ with Tic Tac and Papa Shanti and ‘Konkontibaa’ with another returnee from Canada, Batman the dancehall stopper.
It was now the turn of DJ Ruckus (New York’s finest DJ) to show Ghana what he had in store. The young dude is really hot. The way he turned back to face the crowd and still managed to control the turntables, wow, it was something else. DJ Ruckus, you are the man!
Kudos to MTV Base Live and Nokia for an event well organised. You really gave the fans value for their money.
