The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is calling all Ghanaian musicians to submit songs with a message of peace.

This would play a crucial role in sending out the message of the ‘MUSIGA Campaign for Peace, Unity and Tolerance for Election 2012 and beyond’.

The event, culminating on the International Day of Tolerance (November 16th), is an effort to promote peace during the upcoming elections.

It is however a week long programme which would last from the 12th to the 16th. Artistes are to submit their songs in audio and/or video format and of any genre to the union. Demo CDs may also be submitted.

The songs should have an underlying message of peace and unity and should be advocating peaceful elections in December. Submissions would be collected and screened. Out of these, 12 entries would be selected, on a basis of merit.

These 12 songs would form a compilation CD which would be created by MUSIGA. The artistes whose songs feature on the CD would have their songs produced, with studio time expenses covered by the union.

The compiled CD would be released in the campaign week. Copies would be sold to the general public. The proceeds would serve as funding for MUSIGA.

This compilation is part of the initiative to drive the peace agenda.**
