Mayor Michael, Others To Launch The Spirit Of Ghana Awards

MICHAEL SESSIONS, the mayor of Hillsdale, Michigan in the United States, a city of about 8200 people, will be in Ghana very soon to launch the 'Spirit of Accra Awards'.

BrassRing Media Network, the Department of Social Welfare of the AMA, Ghana Television, and Youth Crime Watch of America, have developed the awards in consultation with other youth organizations in Ghana/Accra, as a way of celebrating all that is good about the young people of Accra.

Benjamin Kwame Tawiah, chief executive officer of BrassRing Media Network, reiterated that the awards are therefore intended to recognize the hard work of young people.

Mr. Tawiah is currently in talks with Pepsi America, Nike America, and some local radio stations, as they have shown interest for the awards in Ghana, starting from Accra.

Too often, minority elements hog the headlines and create an impression of negativity, yet there are plenty of champions working hard in their local communities.

BrassRing Media Network felt there should be an awards show that celebrated these positive role models. The long term objective is that the awards will become a standard that all young people will aspire to be involved with, and gain recognition through it.

He went on further to state that the Spirit of Accra Awards will be open to individuals or groups of young people who work together to make their local communities better places.

Mr. Tawiah also how each of the awards will be judged by three judges and once the short-list is compiled, they will be judged in order of merit.
