Walter Mawuli Gli a.k.a. Mr. Bacteria, a young and enterprising musician is who we are referring to. The tag belies the person, as he is not wicked nor bad, however, as he says, in the field of music, the name tag you give to yourself counts a lot, and such names should be ?attention drawing?.
Mr. Bacteria is a graduate of St. Johns Grammar School and realized his musical talent when he was still a student. ?I was listening to reggae artistes, participating in programmes like the Kiddafest and some entertainment programmes on campus. I was featured in Nkasei?s ?Eke ma mo? album and their second as well. Afterwards Lucky Mensah introduced me to his producer, where we came out with ?Boofre nie? which became an instant hit?.
The name Bacteria? It is a reflection of my lifestyle; how the figure behind the voice is somehow misleading. When you see me, you wonder how a rather slim figure can posses such a deep and infectious voice, it?s rather marvelous. I'm simply talented (that?s how I can describe myself).
Mawuli Gli a.k.a. Mr. Bacteria is now out with his solo track album titled ?Asem? under the auspices of Odwenanoma record label (which also produced Okomhyefuor and Antwi ne Anwti). The album has ten tracks in reggae, highlife, and hiplife. Some renowned musicians like K.K. Fosu, Okomhyefour and Pinocchio were featured. He says, ?all the lyrics were written and arranged by myself?.
Future plans and aspirations? ?Furthering my education to pursue a music course to the apex, and ultimately establish a recording studio.?
My mother has been and still is my most cherished mentor, who sometimes advises me on what to put into my music and what not to. She has been very instrumental in my life and I thank her for her loving kindness may God bless her. I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to my kid brother of Galkin Collections for his unflinching support and encouragement.
A little advise to the youth. ?I will admonish the youth to be humble, obedient and to make education their prime target because it is the only means by which one can break the cycle of poverty. Also, abstinence from premarital sex is a sure way to overcoming the AIDS menace.?
Hobbies are listening to good music and playing table tennis. Fufu and aponkye nkrankra is his favourite dish.
