There is a new talent show dubbed Music Mania aimed primarily at unearthing raw singing talents in the country’s Senior High Schools and nurture them into ideal musicians.
Organisers, Fountain House Communications say Music Mania is the first of its kind and it will offer high school students with potential, a platform to showcase on a bigger platform.
Auditions for the event was held at the National Theatre between 17th -20th August after which fourteen (14) students were carefully selected to undergo thorough grooming and also partake in a lined–up of activities prior to the finale in December.
They will battle it out with one being crowned Ghana Youth Peace Icon.
“It is observed that second cycle institutions have been side-lined from the mainstream entertainment and this event will make them feel they count in our society,” a source at Fountain House Communications said.
The 14 selected finalists include Jessica Sugri Ali and Marigold Jabulo from Holy Child School, Yaw Addo Larbi of Ghana National College and Mahalia Bamford from Winneba Senior High all from the Central region.
Greater Accra representatives are Christopher Brown from Presec, Legon; Kwaku Acheampong, St. John’s Grammar School; Ruth Dodoo and Sylvia Kpoi from St. Margaret Mary School.
The rest are Kofi “Tomtom” Boateng and Augustine “Drilix” Bukari from Pope John’s Senior High, Nathaniel Addae from Ofori Panin Senior High and Matilda Awunyo from Okuapeman Senior high represent the Eastern region.
Esther Ntiador and Fafa Letsa from Ola Girls Senior High School in the Volta Region make up the remaining contestants.
Music Mania 2010 will be shown on selected television stations and winners will also take home cash prizes, computers, a recording contract and products from sponsors.
