My Political Affiliation Has Affected My Music Career

Jewel Ackah The career of one of Ghana?s ace highlife musicians is gradually grinding to a halt as a result of his political affiliation.

Jewel Ackah disclosed in an interview at the National Democratic Congress (NDC?s) final rally before the December 7 general elections where he poured his heart out about how his career has suffered as a result of politics.

Mr. Ackah who together with his Butterfly Six band played a number of songs for the opposition NDC prior to the 2000 elections says sales of his CD?s and cassettes have taken a downward turn ever since the NDC lost power in 2000.

? I recorded a song but because the song was for the NDC, the producers said they were not going to produce and promote it?, he lamented.

He noted that because of his predicament he had been on the quiet for some years without recording any song adding that this had affected his music career.

Mr. Ackah refuted allegation in some section of the Media that he had duped someone to the tune of $5,000 saying it was not true and that it was one of the ways to intimidate him.
