Doris Ashie, better known as Naa Adei, an original member of the famous Wulomei group who died in November last year at the age of 50, will be buried this Saturday, at the Osu Cemetery in Accra.
The Wulomei female trio that recorded some of the group?s classics like Walatu Walasa, Tswa Omanye A1a, Mawie Ga and Gyae Nsanum comprised lead singer Naa Amanua, Naadu Akrong and Naa Adei who took over the lead singer?s role when Naa Amanua left to start her own group.
Though the Wulomei was later revamped with younger blood, Naa Adei still remained active as voice coach as well as costume and finance supervisor.
She partnered hiplife artiste, Kaseem Bebe, on new renditions of Wulomei?s Aklowa and Akosua Serwa which were nominated for honours in the Best Collaboration category at the 2003 Ghana Music Awards.
Naa Adei was married to Nii Tei Ashitey. They had three children.
