Nana Quame It was simply two days of heaven on earth as NQ Records brought out the party animal in over 1000 people at both Sunyani and Techiman.
Yep, that is right. I cannot describe the kind of fun we had at the just-ended Soja Tour at the two destinations.
Sunyani
Organized at the Town Hall on 18 March 2005, it was simply ?unmissable?. Sorry, if you missed out but as one 26-year old guy put it, "this is one of the biggest gathering since Ghana?s Independence Day".
Can you imagine a dozen times the number of people required to fill the Town Hall doing nothing but winding waists, twisting limbs and grabbing each other? It was pure indescribable fun.
Artistes like Okyeame Quame, Popa, Akasanoma, Kontihene, Lucky Mensah, Joe Frazier and Nana Antwi prepped up the crowd for Nana Quame?s acts.
When Nana Quame took the stage, wow, the audience goes berserk. The ladies could not resist but rush on stage to dance with the man with the silky voice as he performed lovely tunes like ?Soja Alafia?, ?Asemsebe? and a couple of songs on his old album.
Techiman
It is party time! Techiman was on fire on the 19 March 2005 when Nana Quame together with some prolific artistes performed at the Town Hall.
People are still talking about his performance at the Town Hall featuring big names such as Okyeame Quame, Lucky Mensah, Joe Frazier, Bole and others.
Before the show, Nana Quame together with some artistes were interviewed on various radio stations in the town and guess what, people were eager to see him perform on that day.
On the day, the turnout was so massive that it was difficult getting through the gates. The line that extended around the block was something else.
To the surprise of the organizers and police officers, some of the people broke the gates and entered without paying just to see him perform. You heard me right.
Nana Quame is something else when it comes to singing. Some rank him the next big thing to happen after R. Kelly in terms of writing and composing. His Soja album is defying all odds outside Ghana.
After silently sitting through the previous shows, the only words available from my ?lippo? lips were ?lovely? and that was an understatement.
If you think he is great, then wait till you see him perform in Takoradi, Cape Coast, Swedru, Koforidua, Volta Region, Kumasi, Mampong, Winneba, Accra, U.S.A, Canada and London.
