President-elect of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) Diana Hopeson has turned down a radio interview opportunity provided by Radio Gold. According to the host of the showbiz program, Mrs. Hopeson had been informed about the interview and had actually agreed to it but she switched off her cell phone when it was time to get on air.
The radio interview was to find out her vision for the union as president.
It couldn’t have come at a better time as the focus of the Musiga national congress had shifted from the real issues affecting musicians to controversy and power struggle.
A source at Radio Gold told SHOWGHANA that the interview was meant to bring the focus back on the real issues affecting musicians and the music industry in the country.
The second-vice president-elect, Nat Brew Amandzeba didn’t however fail to fulfil his promise of talking to the radio station. Asked about the changes to expect in the union with his team in office, he said action speaks louder than words and their action will prove everything.
Amandzeba said there are many challenges facing musicians but hard work will solve them.
After the Musiga national congress held in Sunyani, capital of the Brong Ahafo region on November 14, 2007, Mrs. Diana Hopeson was elected president of the union. Mr. A. B Crentsil was elected first vice president, Nat Brew Amandzeba was elected second vice president, Nana Kwame Ampadu elected general secretary, Mrs. Jude Lomotey was elected treasurer and Mr. C.K Morrison was elected welfare officer.
