New Ningo (Greater Accra) 15 Oct. '98 Mr Enoch Teye Mensah, Minister of Youth and Sports and MP for Ningo-Prampram on Wednesday inspected work on a new bridge which will link Prampram and New Ningo to old Ningo. The 1.3 billion cedis project is scheduled to be completed in October next year and will help boost economic activities in the two twin towns separated by the Dzange lagoon. Mr K.S. Dza, managing director of Frandesco West Africa Limited (FAWAL), the construction firm working on the project, said the 253 metres long bridge will be the longest bridge in the country when completed.
Mr Dza said as part of the project FAWAL will construct 500 meters of tarred road on each side of the bridge to link Old Ningo and New Ningo.
Mr Mensah, also inspected work on a 77 million-cedi market and lorry park at Old Ningo where work on the first phase, involving 108 market stalls, gravelling of the lorry park and tarring is almost completed.
Mr Mensah, said the project is being financed by the Dangme West District Assembly and a special fund allocated to members of Parliament for projects in their areas.
Mr Stephen Nartey, project manager of Modern Ghana Builders Limited which is undertaking the market project said the second phase will involve the construction of 1,500 more stalls.
