The New Year is here again and will not stop coming to us and Weekly Fylla will like to extend the warmest of the season’s greetings, wishes and resolution to our numerous patrons and our partners in the industry and our musicians and Event Organizers. I mention the two bodies because of their identical role they play in the music industry.
I said this because of the way they have been on each others throat with accusations and counter accusations.
Musicians “cocoa season” is during festive occasions which comes with engagements but at the same time creates unnecessary troubles for Artists who accept payments for engagements they do not honor whiles
Organizers almost elope with Artist balances. This allegation of duping by both sides and protracted feuds they engender during this period bring to the fore how information and communication are managed in this country. While the artist thinks they are Stars, the organizers also have another opinion without taken into consideration the business aspect of their dealings. Also most of the organizers prefer to deal with some of the artist direct and use their names without their knowledge but when there is problem, it is then that they look for a scapegoat.
If we want some of these trivial issues to be a thing of the past then organizers should resist the temptation of using the names of musicians they have not contracted in their advertisements and make sure they deal with the right people to avoid some of these embarrassments for a fruitful year. Musicians must also be up and doing and engage good managers to deal on their behalf to curtail some of these brouhahas.
