Female gospel minister, Ohemaa Mercy broke new grounds last Saturday, October 24 at the Republic Hall of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi when she hosted “Repu Praise Break 2015”.
The event organized by Ohemaa Mercy Ministries, BN Michael Ministries and Republic Hall offered students of the institution exhilarating stage performances.
The presence of God was felt on the night of the show from the start of the event till Ohemaa Mercy finished her two hour nonstop performance. The event started with performances from Minister Quame Gyedu, Nana Kwadwo Tuffour, Naa Mercy, Gospel Explosion, Minister Igwe, and Francis Amo. The high-powered song ministration by the musicians was to set the tone for Ohemaa Mercy, the headline act on the night to perform.
The “Wofiri mu” singer mounted the stage and changed the whole charged atmosphere to lead the crowd in worship and praises with some of her hit songs. For the two hour performance, Ohemaa Mercy sang most of her hit songs like “Wobe ye kese”, “Wofiri mu”, “Menwu Da” and many others.
Students who were on their feet till 12 midnight when Ohemaa Mercy performed her last song yearned for more even as she was leaving stage.
According to JCR executives of the hall, the “Repu Praise Break 2015” which started at 6pm on Saturday is the first gospel show to be organized in many years in the history of their hall week celebrations.
Most students who heard about “Repu Praise Break 2015” with Ohemaa Mercy expressed shock as such event is not familiar to the hall. Most of the events organized at the Republic Hall according to them are headlined by hiplife artistes with no gospel musician performing.
“Repu Praise Break 2015” is part of Ohemaa Mercy’s campus tour to minister the word of God through music. The “Praise Break 2015” started at the University of Ghana’s Sarbah Hall Week celebration. The next “Praise Break 2015” concert will be held in Cape Coast in few days.
