Mrs. Mercy Twum-Ampofo a.k.a Ohemaa Mercy says some gospel artists are imposing themselves on people without knowing the rudiments of the music.

“There are some people who are spoiling the work, there are some people who are forcing themselves to be in the industry that God hasn’t prepared them for,” she said in answering a question on her views of the gospel music scene in Ghana.

Ohemaa Mercy sees gospel music as something that God is using in the end times to bring people to His kingdom and advised those who want to get into the gospel music industry to wait for God to prepare them before they come out with an album.

Ohenmaa Mercy has been into music for 16 years and was only able to release her first album (adamfo pa) two years ago.

She teaches at St. Peter’s Anglican School in Koforidua at present and, is combining music with teaching but says she will not leave her teaching profession now that she has become a big music artist in Ghana.

Ohemaa has two albums to her credit and both were produced under Big Ben Music Production.

The new album is already topping music charts and shaking up the entire gospel music scene in Ghana.

She’s not the type of artist who would like to mime to her songs and call it live performance. As someone who started with live band music from the church, Ohenmaa says she’s always comfortable with a live band when performing.
