Afro hip hop sensation, Olu Maintain, is eagerly awaiting the final cut for his brand new music video for Yahoozee-The Remix. Created by a team of four young video makers mentored by veteran US director, Jessy Terrero, the smoking video will be the latest output from the MTV Making the Video Challenge with Shell and features a sizzling collaboration between Olu and Ghanaian remix-master, Okyeame Quame.
The video will be premiered for the first time in Lagos tomorrow when it will be unveiled in front of celebrity guests and media during a special preview party at Six Degrees North. The music video will subsequently premiere on MTV Base in November.
Addressing a joint press conference in Lagos last week Tony Okonedo, Media Relation Officer, Shell Petroleum and Paul Mayanga, Senior Commercial Manager, MTV Network Africa, disclosed that the music video will be produced by a team of Nigerian music video professionals and enthusiastic amateurs chosen by Jessy Terrero, veteran director of videos of Ludacris, 50 Cent, San Paul, Enrique Iglesias and Lionel Richie among others.
The MTV Making the Video with Shell Challenge aims to uplift and energise the African music industry by sharing best practice and forging collaborations between home grown music video talent and top international video directors.
“This challenge inspires local music video practitioners to create ever more compelling, high quality and polished videos that do full justice to the vision and artistry of artists such as Olu Maintain and Okyeame Quame,” said Alex Okosi, Senior Vice President and MD, MTV Networks Africa.
