The very best of Ghana’s renowned Hi-Life musicians were in their elements Saturday night at the second edition of the Pre-Valentine Highlife Concert in Kumasi.
The young and old in Garden City shared in the joy and love of the valentine season as they partied all night long with A.B. Crentsil, Thomas Frempong, Paapa Yankson, Dr. Paa Bobo and Awura Ama Badu.
The dance floor at the poolside of True Vine Hotel was agog with diverse moves as the artistes rocked the stage and churned out their all-time hits with a live band.
Dr. Paa Bobo opened the night with his popular ‘Comfort’ and ‘Asobrokye’ tracks, ending with the thought provoking ‘Wo Nyamesom Mpo Ni’, all to delight of patrons.
An enthusiastic Thomas Frimpong came through to deliver some of his finest tunes like ‘Odo Pa’ which got the oldies to reminisce the good old days.
Patrons of the concert could not help but stay on their feet throughout the splendid performance of Paapa Yankson, who demonstrated that his music life has just started after 40 years of experience - it was a sing and dance along contest with tracks like ‘Show Your Love’ and ‘Okukuseku’.
The ever-green 69 year old Awura Ama Badu pushed the oldies into the ‘Azonto’ frenzy as she offered simple tutorials on how to get the dance right. She adored the stage with hits like ‘Medofo Adaada Me’ and ‘Koomkom’, celebrating the honour of the African women to her husband.
The ‘Moses’ man, A.B. Crentsil was not scared to sing the controversial ‘Atia’ and killed the show in a spectacular fashion.
It was exciting to see other Hi-Life greats, including Prof. Kofi Abraham, mounting the stage in support of the performance and for many patrons “Hi-Life music and love are indeed inseparable”.
The Pre-Valentine Hi-Life Concert is aimed at rekindling love relationships through the power of Highlife music.
The event was organized by Nhyira 104.5Fm in collaboration with True Vine Hotel and sponsored by Lipslin Décor, M.Y. Ventures, Ababio Express, Ernie’s Classic Jewelries and MultiTv.
