Piracy helps underground artistes - FOKN Bois

Ghana and the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) have been battling with the issue of piracy for a very long time.

Most musicians in Ghana are of the view that, that act is very harmful to their career as they are not able to make returns from the songs they churn out.

But award-winning music duo, FOKN Bois, popularly known for Thank God they are not “a Nigerians” think piracy helps the underground acts.

For them, it is even a privilege to have your song pirated as an up and coming artiste.

‘As an underground artiste, it is an honor to have your songs pirated. The reason is that, it gets your song out there, people play it, you get shows to play and in the end it, makes popular,” Wanlov one half of the duo said at the launch of Yonder Music at Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel.

He went on “on the other hand, it affects someone how is already in the main stream.”

Mensah, the other half also came in to state that, their songs have never been pirated before.

“Our song shave never been pirated before.”

Piracy refers to the unauthorized duplication of copyrighted content that is then sold at substantially lower prices in the ‘grey’ market.
