Ghanaian hiplife trio Praye staged what appears to be their last act as Nescafe Africa Revelation (NAR) ambassadors at the Alisa Hotel last week.
The three artistes serenaded guests with songs from their maiden album as well as a couple from their upcoming one. They also performed their single produced on a new compilation by Appeitus.
This appears to be their last act because over the last one year or so they have been the face of Nescafe having emerged as the winners of the maiden edition of NAR.
Having won the Ghana final event last year the trio went on to win the Central and West African Regional Final, beating competition from other West African countries.
Praye had their album ‘Shoddy’ produced on the Lisarf Record label and have since been on many music circuits to wow audiences with their strong lyrics and music.
Their passing out performance last weekend was to give way to the crowning of the new NAR champions next week Saturday.
Those who qualified from the regions to take part in the Ghana final are Ranking, Family, Klala, Traffic, Mmratipa, Key Holders, Agoro and Nkenten. The rest are Insuo, 3-units, 12 O’clock, NLC, Nkantanan and the all-female group African Drum.
Nescafe through Tucci Goka, the head of the brand at Nestle, thanked Praye for being worthy ambassadors. She presented an acoustic guitar to each of the members urging them to continue to give of their best.
According to the rules of the contest, there will be three rounds of performances by each group. In the first round, each group will compose an accapella for Nescafe. In the second round they will do their own accapella ad in the third they will perform to their own song.
At the end of the show the winning group will have their debut album recorded and represent the country at the Pan-African final of NAR besides other prizes such as recording of music videos, hi-fi sound systems and a supply of Nestle products.
Apart from taking part in the African final, the winners will have their debut album recorded, produced and heavily promoted. In addition to this, they will each go home with a hi-fi sound system and a year’s supply of Nestle products.
