There is a disease which is gradually eating into our societal fiber and if not checked could cause disaffection between Producers and Managers.

The problem is that some of our radio presenters have turned themselves into event organizers (promoters). It is very disheartening and naïve on the part of some of these presenters to be used this way.

Their strategy is simple. They either contact or they are contacted by organizations who needed the services of some musicians for a gig. Since the said companies don’t have direct link with the artists or their representatives they then sort the help of these presenters for help and it is here that the problem starts.

The presenter will call the manager or the producer and said “Yeah, is me DJ X calling from B-Radio, I am organizing a show at the National Theater, the Beach or at Kakum, and please can you allow your boy to help us to do the show? You know this is for the Station or my show. You know how I have been playing your music.

I am the only person who plays it in the morning to evening no sponsorship or help from any quarters, so what be the deal” he will even ask you.

Then out of fears of victimization by the presenter, the manager or the producer will say something like “Qh Jack, I know what you have been doing for my boy. He will be there just take care of him or how much do you think you can afford…ok, ok he will be there”.

It’s a deal comes the respond from the manager or the producer. The chunk of the money goes to his pocket with peanut given to the artist.

The most annoying aspect of it all is he will tell the artist he is helping him or her. For want of time and space I would have given you more examples You dare not to complain else the artist will be tagged and blackmail.  “Oh don’t mind that guy he is too known.

He doesn’t respect a go show am paa” Oh! How long shall they kill our prophet while we sit down and look? “Eye mobo”. We are kill creativity.
