Prince Charles, a new voice of Highlife Music

Ghanaian born Prince Charles a name give to him by both sides of his family in Ashanti religion started his musical career at the age of seventeen by following some gospel musicians in his church.

There he became a caretaker of the apostolic gospel band were he learnt how to play the base guitar and moved to Asante Mamapong to join Osei Adu Amanfi band , there he realized that he had a great talent and the vision which was very huge to make it in the music industry .

When was growing up musicians like lumba, one the best musician in highlife was the man he looked up to as his Mentor. He then decide to moved to Tema were he felt he could make it there due to the kind of impact the boys were making in the industry . Arriving at Tema luckily he was introduced to Nana Fynn one of the best male vocal musician in Ghana. His music was appreciated by Nana Fynn and encouraged him to do more hard work which would get him a place in the music industry because the industry is not a small place. Nana Fynn could not let him go just like but introduced him to Kwaku Duah the leader of band called jewel.” I was made a backing vocalist which I felt was the only way I could meet my mentor lumba”.

As time went on he became a technician for the band which made them to take him to everywhere they go. God being so good I meet my mentor Lumba at my first show with the band were he told Lumba he was a song writer and his inspirations were form Lumba in terms of writing and lyrics.

His first single featured Nana Fynn during his early stages. He currently has a new single called “Obi Asem” featuring Burundy Okaniba which is make waves on air now. The track “Obi Asem “talks about two people leaving in the same house but one prefers to talk about the other’s problem s, so the song “Obi Asem” advises us to concentrate on our problems first before solving others.

“I believe Ghanaians would love my music and also support me to the top because the kind of highlife music am doing is for both the young and old”.
