Rex Omar, Amandzeba, Others In Concert At Alliance Francaise

The Alliance Francaise and the French Embassy in Accra will on Saturday January 28, 2006 present a special concert that will feature Rex Omar, Amandzeba, Okomfo Kwaade, Charles Amoah, Lucky Mensah and the Vision Band.

The concert which will be hosted at Alliance Francaise in Accra marks the launch of a promotional CD compilation that features Kojo Antwi, Rex Omar, Atongo Amandzeba, Charles Amoah, and others.

The CD which is titled Music from Ghana, will not be for sale. It will be distributed to the worldwide network of French Cultural Centers for promotional purposes. The production and compilation of the CD was sponsored by the French Embassy.

Themed "Open House Party", the concert will showcase exemplary artistic creations as well as various styles of Ghanaian contemporary music, which is expected to thrill live music fans in Accra and beyond.

Amandzeba employs indigenous Ghanaian rhythms and has an enormous knowledge of African rhythms and melodies.

He exhibits a strong command of Ghanaian languages like Ga, Hausa and his own mother tongue Fanti with which he blends his music and the products are irresitible.

Having performed internationally at a variety of places including Cote D’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Benin, Britain, France, South Africa and Togo, Rex Omar is set to explode on the international market.

Rex Omar is firmly rooted in his native criss-cross rhythms and melodic inflections. With this heritage plus the pervasive influence of Western pop music and his personal love for jazz, he plays a unique blend of Afro-pop and jazz music.

Indeed, his singing style portrays influences from the praise singers of Northern Ghana and Ashanti.
