The Ghana Music Awards is an annual award show that comes off in the first quarter of the year and honors the best in the Ghanaian music industry.

It also features musical performances by various Ghanaian, African and foreign musicians, as well as special award honorees.

As the Ghana Music Awards Festival 2007 ceremony begins to unfold itself, we (Ghana Music.com) decided to have an interview with the ever fine-looking, Anne Sackey of Multichoice Ghana on her views on this years Ghana Music Awards Festival which also doubles as a Golden Jubilee edition.

Ghana Music.com: What do you want to see at this year's music awards?
Anne: I would like to first know to how the nominations are done. I think the most appropriate measure to use would be number of sales.

But I guess the question will be how to get those figures. COSGA? Maybe that will ensure that musicians work with COSGA and it may encourage the public to buy CD?s with banderols.

?I would love to see some awards like ?Best Music Video?, Best Local Collaboration, Best Foreign/International Collaboration and Best Ethnic song for someone like Ayisoba?, she continued.

Ghana Music.com: Any artiste you tip to win many awards?
Anne: Wutah, Obuor?s collaboration with A.B. Crentsil and Ayisoba.

Ghana Music.com: Any advice to the organizers since your office is into organizing of events too?
Anne: In Ghana, it seems that we underestimate the amount of time and work that goes into a smooth production. I recently visited the Idols West Africa set where they set up the stage and venue (including branding and d?cor). The day before the event and the day of the event, they had to do rehearsals; a technical rehearsal in the morning with all the performers and a full dress rehearsal also with all the presenters and performers in the afternoon.

Also, why is it that we do not use tele-prompters so that the presenters can read their text professionally, and do not make so many mistakes and deviate from the event. The scripts must be agreed on by the producer of the event.

As said by Anne Sackey, PR & Communications Manager (a well vexed figure in the entertainment sector in Ghana), If the organizers of the music industry's biggest awards show execute things well, the Ghana Music Awards Festival 2007 will become a brand that represents musical achievements year-round.
