Sandra Oduro Fights Composer Over 60 Million Cedis Deal

From the outside, Sandra Oduro is one of the few ?latter day? gospel musicians and is doing extremely well one the local music scene. Indeed she exudes so much confidence and passion in her chosen career to the extent that though she has been on the musical landscape for a short time, her name has become a household word.

As the popular saying goes, ?All that glitters is not gold,? the P&P can state that the charming Kumasi based gospel songstress might not be happy after all. The reason? She is presently battling with another musician from the Garden City, Nana Boateng over her claim of 60 Million cedis from him. The amount according to Sandra Oduro is what is due her after Boateng had allegedly sold the audio right of the album, ?Onyame Nsesa Da,? which he wrote and composed and subsequently contracted Sandra to sing, for 120 million cedis.

Her demand for equal share has, however, been turned down by Nana Boateng, resulting in the current rift. P&P gathered that attempts by one Rev. Ernest Antwi Adjei, founder and leader of God?s Victorious Christian Ministries, who allegedly is the principal witness in the case, to settle the issue amicably has failed. Hence Sandra reported the case to the Kumasi Police leading to the arrest of the songwriter.

Throwing more light on the misunderstanding between himself and the pretty musician, Nana Boateng stated that he single-handedly wrote the lyrics and composed the said hit album and later contracted Sandra to sing the songs in the studio for recording at a verbally agreed fee of 20 million cedis.

Upon completion of her side of the deal, he allegedly made part payment of 10 million cedis with a promise to settle the rest later. However, Sandra refused to accept the balance of 10 million cedis on the grounds that she had heard that he sold the audio-right for 120 million cedis and therefore wanted the amount equally. She felt the 20 million cedis was too small considering what the right had been sold for.

Nana Boateng told P&P further that he had nothing more than the agreed sum to be given to Sandra, since he engaged her services and paid her and therefore did not understand why she was fighting him over the his work. He also threatened to cause Sandra?s arrest if she was seen doing any public performance with the album.

At the time of filing this report, the Police were still investigating the case.
